Daisy Edgar-Jones has formally begun her press tour for Sense and Sensibility, during which she takes on the function of Elinor Dashwood, initially performed by Emma Thompson within the 1995 adaptation.
The apparent expectation is that this tour will draw inspiration from the world of Jane Austen. Not in a fancy dress sense, however by refined references to the Georgian period during which Sense and Sensibility is about.
Her McQueen Fall 2026 pintucked floral silk-jacquard gown with chain detailing means that strategy is already taking form.
The empire waistline is probably the most rapid nod to the interval, whereas the softly gathered silhouette echoes the romantic simplicity related to Georgian gown. These aren’t references that announce themselves in the way in which Zendaya’s spiderweb motifs or Lexi Minetree’s all-pink Elle wardrobe did. They’re quieter, rewarding those that recognise the inspiration.
If that is the course Daisy and her stylist Dani Michelle are taking, I’m intrigued to see how (if) the theme develops over the approaching weeks.
